My Artist Statement

Humanity, storytelling, worthiness, validations, and empathy are unapologetically tribal at their core… I am here to make space for us. This artistic work of engaging the community formulates access. As a theater-maker, it's my call to action to place a warm light on those sitting in the margins with magical stories to tell. There exists a desire to champion and lift our multilingual voices and our everyday reflections en la lucha y la alegría.
Something powerful is gained when people exhale stories; a liberation of truths.
The way our palabras dance to the rhythm of memories... our kaleidoscopic world has a raw shape, I crave to capture that essence in all my plays. This both scares me and causes utter fulfillment. Yet, the true magic unfolds when audiences become invisibly tethered to the work, their spirits resonating in ways that shake them to their core, leaving them altered, awakened. The world is finally catching on—realizing just how dynamic, how limitless, we truly are.
My north star is being a part of a collective of boricua playwrights, who one day will leave behind a legacy of exhilarating plays that fuel such rich vibrancy on stage, a pulse, an identity portal, and amplify the notion that within varying perspectives of our Latindad we remain grounded in our authentic selves and our beliefs. Y la verdad es: I would like to be alive to see it.
